A legal leap of faith

In the 1980s, the Frisian artist Hanshan Roebers designed a bridge-like sculpture in copper and Azobé wood that was placed at right angles to the railroad tunnel at the NS railway station in Tilburg. Originally the work had no title, but it quickly acquired the popular nickname 'the Diving Board', even though there was no water to be seen in the vicinity.
