Since 1951 the percentage scheme for art in government buildings has been a source of commissions for visual artists in the Netherlands. How does this scheme work and what is its position in the commissioning process for Dutch art almost seventy years later? And are there any points for attention for the future? The Atelier Rijksbouwmeester asked the Boekman Foundation to delve deeper into the functioning of the scheme. This article is an introduction to the research.
