As of Jan. 1, 2023, the Rotterdam Council for Arts and Culture is dissolved.

As of December 20, 2022, the Rotterdam Council for Art and Culture (RRKC) and the office of the Rotterdam Art Foundation are no longer accessible. On the initiative of Rotterdam's alderman of culture, Saïd Kasmi, the RRKC will be dissolved as of January 1, 2023. From that date, the Rotterdam Art Foundation will continue as an independent institution, without the RRKC. For the board of the RKS, chaired by Carlos Gonçalves (also the former chairman of the RRKC), a phase of exploration has begun on how the RKS can best serve the city in the coming years. Various scenarios are being explored and tested for feasibility, including in the areas of talent and maker development, the pioneering role for transitions in the sector, consultancy, and the memory of Rotterdam.

The RRKC previously handled the application procedures for the four-year cultural plans in Rotterdam. It is still unknown how the application round for the cultural plan period 2025-2028 will take shape.
