Among other things, the Culture Monitor shows that compared to the other provinces, there are relatively many museums in Gelderland, with relatively few temporary exhibitions. It also shows that since 2017, the national contribution to Gelderland from the BIS and the State Culture Funds has been increasing and that provincial and municipal spending by and in Gelderland on the cultural sector is on the rise.
"Province-wide, a picture emerges in which cultural life is highly valued. A strong emphasis on amateur art and great social involvement of those same amateur art (associations), a high willingness to pay on the part of the people of Gelderland and many visits by both young and old contribute to this. Young people therefore consider practicing culture an important part of their lives - older people, on the other hand, consider visiting culture more important."
