Art in urban development. Exit- reflections on the farewell of Ronald Stokkel is a publication of the municipality of Leiden.

Ronald Stokkel worked for the municipality for 40 years and he took its leave with the call "Make art part of urban development!". The publication includes an essay by quartermaster Marjan van Gerwen Art makes the townabout the necessity of interweaving art and urbanisation. Hilde Blank, Leiden city architect, urban supervisor Martin Verwoest, architectural historian Matthijs Burger and visual artist Peter Zuur each respond to Marjan van Gerwen's essay from their own profession and perspective. Former colleague and board member of the Leiden Cultural Foundation Laus de Jonge reflects on all their contributions, while NRC journalist Gijsbert van Es interviews Ronald Stokkel himself.
