“From an artistic standpoint, it was a pièce de résistance, ”every time."
This week, Esther Didden is in Haren at Annemiek de Haan’s studio. She graduated from the Rijksakademie in 1993. Shortly thereafter, she left for Los Angeles to spend an additional year studying at CalArts. In 2002, she returned to LA for love. She took up painting and writing; Los Angeles was one big backdrop. She has now been back in the Netherlands for some time; she returned to care for her aging parents. Now that she lives in Friesland and works in Haren, her time in America still resonates and finds its way into her work.
