David Habets:
"Art offers more freedom than physics to tell more beautiful and richer stories. In lichen, I have found those stories."
After studying physics, David Habets went to work for TNO, the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research. But he had not yet finished his studies, and in the evening he took a course in landscape architecture. During this study, he decided to leave TNO and joined studio RAAAF. Founded by Ronald and Erik Rietveld. With RAAAF he created large site-specific artworks such as Delta work//. in the Waterloopbos in Marknesse and Still Life at the HEM in Zaandam. Gradually he chose art more and more and ended up as an arts/science fellow at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. By constantly learning about new worlds and doing new studies, his work changed from very large to very small. To lichens, for example.
