"My gallery owners crashed. The impact of that was huge. Everything stopped and in terms of work, I felt like I was back to square one."
This week Esther Didden is in Weesp at the studio of Pim Palsgraaf. In 2003 he graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. He found it difficult to find his way as an artist after that. He approached many galleries, but they did not respond, until he contacted MK Galerie in Witte de Withstraat, the gallery of Emmo Grofsmid and Karmin Kartowikromo in Rotterdam. They did respond and became his mentor. They became friends. In 2011 fate struck, the gallery owners were killed in a car accident. So how do you find your way again as an artist when such a base is suddenly gone?
