Flora Valeska Woudstra:

"I can't separate an art career from the essentials of life. For me, art is inherently connected to working with questions you don't have answers to."

Esther Didden interviews Flora Valeska Woudstra at her home and workplace. Flora studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and Emily Carr University in Vancouver, then received her master's degree from the Dutch Art Institute in Arnhem in 2017. She worked as an artist, writer and translator and had started a small-scale publishing project with fellow artists that focused on book-making as a connecting, relational practice. In 2019, Flora suffered a brain injury from a traffic accident. Long periods of rest were (and are) necessary, and she realized that her art practice, as she had it, was no longer possible. How has this permanently affected and shaped her artistic practice?
