Sleep!

"Did you sleep well?" is a common question. The response gives you an insight into the person's mood and alertness. Sleep is a basic necessity of life, and we spend a third of our lives asleep. A state in which we have a lowering of consciousness that temporarily lacks contact with the outside world. We surrender to it, vulnerable and thrown back on ourselves. During sleep, a process of cell repair, energy conservation, learning and recording of memories takes place. Furthermore, sleep remains a mystery.

The group exhibition Sleep! is an exploration of the vast domain of sleep and dream, through the eyes of some fifty visual artists and designers. As a visitor, you go through the four sleep stages from slumber to light sleep to deep sleep.

On view through Jan. 5, 2025 at Kunsthal KAdE in Amersfoort, Netherlands.
