The Drents Museum presents the exhibition Gen F - 75 years of figurative art: Approximately one hundred and forty paintings, drawings and sculptures by more than seventy-five artists.
Several generations of artists are featured in the exhibition. In a special studio, some of them go to work live.
The Drents Museum collects modern figurative art, art based on the perception of visible reality. Leading within the collection is the work of northern figuratives, including Matthijs Röling (1943-2024), Wout Muller (1946-2000), Henk Helmantel (1945) and Clary Mastenbroek (1947). Starting in the late 1960s, they set themselves against the prevailing idea that only abstract work is "good art. In the exhibition
Gen F meets the art of northern figura-tives with that of realist artists from across the Netherlands, such as Kik Zeiler (1948), Charlotte Schleiffert (1967), Ina van Zyl (1971) and Dion Rosina (1991).
In Gen F the museum shows the connections between generations, making it easy to follow the development from 1950 to the present.
All of the works shown in the image contribution are from the Drents Museum Collection. More information can be found at drentsmuseum.co.uk
