Although we first go to the polls in October for the national elections, a few months later it is already time for the municipal elections. Municipalities are responsible for more than half of all public investment in culture.
Rural
Last spring, Kunsten '92 sent a message to all political parties in all municipalities participating in the elections to continue investing in the cultural and creative sector. The message can be found (and used yourself) in two pamphlets compiled by Kunsten '92: one for the cultural sector and one for the heritage sector. In addition, the organization put together toolkits explaining how to approach the parties in your municipality yourself.
North Brabant
Kunstloc Brabant - the knowledge and implementation organization for North Brabant dedicated to the broad arts and culture field - encourages municipal ambitions in the area of cultural policy to be scrutinized. In the absence of a culture memorandum or in the case of an outdated culture memorandum, the organization calls for municipalities to take action themselves. In order to be well informed, Kunstloc has created a municipal map for North Brabant, which shows whether a municipality has a cultural policy document, who is implementing cultural policy, and what financial arrangements are in place.
