Stichting Het Amsterdams Grafisch Atlier (AGA LAB), despite a positive assessment from the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts, fell outside the four-year Arts Plan due to an insufficiently adequate budget.
AGA LAB is sixty-six years old and is an open workshop for hundreds of advanced and beginning visual artists, graphic designers and photographers each year. AGA LAB collaborates with various organizations, museums and educational institutions to attract new creators. Work created at AGA LAB is frequently shown at artist initiatives, galleries and museums.
In recent years, there has been an influx of young creators transitioning to analog work or using a combination of digital and analog techniques. More experienced artists are transferring craft techniques and learning new, experimental techniques along with young creators, which stimulate and excite contemporary work.
AGA LAB possesses equipment and professional knowledge that is shared and too expensive to purchase or hire individually. This creates equality of opportunity so that makers can continue to work with the techniques they use and develop further. To ensure the survival of AGA LAB and the important function it fulfills, the studio has started a campaign.
