November 25 marks the 50th anniversary of Suriname's independence. Museum Cobra is marking this historic moment with a large-scale exhibition. With existing and new works, twenty-four artists and one artists' collective visualize the struggle, transformation and future of freedom. Fashion, photography, paintings, installations, film and performances show how stories from the past live on in today's imagination - and how artists redefine the meaning of freedom again and again, with a view to the future.
